Henry W. Gurley

     â€‹

Henry was born October 17, 1936 and passed on to his heavenly home on August 9, 2022.  He grew up in the tiny farm community of Ace, Texas.  He was the ninth and youngest child of a sharecropping family.

He graduated at the top of his class in Huntsville, Texas in 1955 and attended Sam Houston State Teachers College and Rice Institute (both now are of University level).  Henry moved to Utah in 2017. However, he remained a member of St Timothy Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas.

Other than his love of writing, Henry was an avid Duplicate Bridge player and a much desired partner and mentor.  He attained the rank of Ruby Life Master in January 2020 and was continuing onward to the next level while encouraging and inspiring other players.

" Poetry, in my opinion, is to be shared, and should a line or two touch someone's heartstrings, I am delighted.  For my effort, God receives the honor and the glory which He so richly deserves.

I would also like to thank Buddy Durham

for his expertise in the presentation designs

of my poems.  It was Buddy's idea over three years ago to include accompanying art with each poem and then post the poems on Facebook.

When someone else believes in you, it is amazing how inspirational that one thing becomes.   Buddy's contributions have been true acts of kindness.  Thank you Buddy for your contributions and kindness, but most of all for your friendship through the years."
